Chevrolet 100th Anniversary

Chevrolet 100th Anniversary

Location: Sloan Museum of Discovery - 1221 E Kearsley Street, Flint, Michigan

One of the most famous names in the history of cars celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. On November 3, 1911, one of the great early motoring entrepreneurs, William C Durant, went into business with a Swiss racing driver and mechanic who gave the brand its name: Louis Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet car and truck business traces its roots back to Michigan's lumber industry in the middle of the 19th century. Lumber mills gave way to carriage and wagon manufacturing and the claim, before motorcars burst on the scene, that Flint was the "vehicle capital of the world."

Flint’s rich automotive history and strong ties to Chevrolet made Flint the only choice for the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America’s National Meet. Celebrating Chevrolet’s 100th Anniversary, over 1,600 members traveled to Flint from 43 state and 7 countries.
